Wisdom is learned from the community

It's good to have you here!

This website has the full archives of everything I’ve published for this newsletter. If you’ve deleted an email you can come back and refer to something you’ve read.

Guardrails, values and commitments

  • These are just opinions: Remember, I'm not giving professional advice, just sharing my perspectives rooted in my own experiences. Our life situations differ. You must use this only as an influence, if at all.

  • I change my mind and can be wrong: I hold strong opinions but loosely, so they can evolve. I am wrong, when I realize it, I will share with you. If someone points out that I am wrong, I will share with you.

  • I'll respect your privacy. I will not disclose to anyone (unless compelled by law) who has subscribed to this newsletter and for how long.

  • No incentive policy: I do not accept gifts or payment to write about a company, person or any particular point of view. I do however listen and incorporate their perspectives if they reach out and offer.

  • Conflicts of Interest: I may or may not be invested in public companies that I write about. I do not explicitly feature them but I also don't actively check my investments managed by a financial advisor. I do however directly invest in and advise a few startups and small businesses which might become part of my writing, where there is potential for conflict I will be transparent about it.

  • Journalistic standards don't apply: I am just a dude who does this to primarily further my own understanding and to give back to as broad a group of people as I can. I consume media, talk to knowledgeable people, internalize and summarize information that is primarily publicly available. I then share it with you. I do not corroborate, cross check or validate sources unless I find something that is interesting and unexpected. If someone wants to share something “off the record”, I respect that.

  • Scholarship standards don't apply. I will typically directly attribute to sources if I use it in my writing. I will share references and sources for the most part. I will NOT be a 100% and will occasionally miss attribution or neglect to credit a source because I may forget, may be tired or just in a rush to get the essay out. If I wanted a Ph.D I would have gotten it.

  • You should share these essays, the concepts explored here, frameworks and other information freely: In fact I encourage you to actively share these notes or parts of it, all I ask is that you source it to me. The more you share the more my subscriber base will grow and consequently my influence, so please do.

Who Are You
My audience are part of a diverse group—CEOs, CTOs, early-stage folks, and even a spiritual master, in many different industries. We have engineers, finance people, attorneys, MBAs and a bunch of liberal arts backgrounds. Hailing from more than 4 countries and 3 continents, this makes for an impressive bunch.

Who Am I
I am a global operating executive with expertise in digital business, technology products and, e-commerce. I have worked internationally in travel distribution, in retail and, in information services sectors and have found myself on the ground during many structural disruptions brought about by technology. I have deep experience in leading both organic and inorganic growth strategies.

These days I spend my time investing, serving on boards and doing strategic consulting. My work is based on my perspective built from my experience of managing large technology and digital organizations with budgets in excess of $1Bn and also running small startup organizations as part of a management team or as a founder. I have created and grown digital businesses by identifying competitive strategies and recruiting world-class talent into high performing teams. These teams have grown revenue exponentially while creating intellectual property in the form of patents and have won awards such as The Webbies for their work.
